
Terri Brooks
Terri Brooks, based in Melbourne, is a successful artist who works intuitively with abstraction and mark making, influenced by Tàpies and Ian Fairweather.
Terri's extensive formal study in Fine Arts from 1975 to 1988 testifies to her depth of knowledge and commitment as an artist. From 1975-76 she studied for the B.Ed
(Arts
& Crafts), Melbourne State College; from 1984-87 she gained her B.A
(Fine Art) with Distinction from RMIT, and in 1988 her Grad. Dip
(Fine Art) with Distinction from RMIT. After completing her Master of Arts
(Visual arts) by research at Ballarat University in 2005, she was invited, with two other candidates, to represent the University at the annual national ‘Hatched’ exhibition of recent graduates at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art
(PICA).
In 2006 she was invited to attend an artists’ workshop/exhibition in Germany at kunstGUT Schmiedenfelde
(Blacksmiths Field Arts Centre) working and exhibiting with four German artists and one other Australian. The workshop received a grant from The Ministry for Science, Education and Culture in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommerm. She was also commissioned by Henley Properties Group for their new Melbourne office and was invited to join the ‘Whiteout’ touring exhibition curated by Geoff Tolchard for the Benalla and Monash Switchback gallery exhibitions.
Her teaching career spanned the years 1989 to 2003, as Lecturer in painting and drawing, Diploma of Visual Arts, at Northern Melbourne TAFE
(NMIT).
Her work has been shown in 12 Solo and over 30 Group Exhibitions in the major capital cities in Australia.
Her highly regarded paintings have been purchased by the Albert Tucker Collection, Macquarie Bank, the Joseph Brown Collection, Westpac Bank, 101 Collins Street, BHP Ltd, BHP Petroleum, BHP Ltd, Mitsuii, Audit Victoria, Nauru House, Robert Grieve, Sir and Lady Edwards, Eddie McGuire, Buxtons at Southbank, Grand Chancellor Hotel, Henleys Property Group, kunstGUT Schmiedenfelde
(Germany), and private collectors in Australia, USA, UK, Germany and the Netherlands.
She is represented by Harris Courtin Gallery, Sydney, Flinders Lane Gallery, Melbourne, and Aptos Cruz Galleries, South Australia.
